GOAL News July 12

We are having a chicken ordinance meeting Monday July 13 at 7pm at the 304 N Johnson.  Please join us! Contact Anne (leadmember@greateroaheactionleague.org) for more info.
Other Important Stuff
– Our quarterly chapter membership meeting/potluck is Friday July 24 6:30pm at the Venner Farm. I love baking with Denise’s wheat. Get the behind the scenes look at their farm while meeting and mingling with others who are building a local foods community.
– The Local Foods Committee will meet Wed. July 15 at 7pm. We are moving forward with our foodshed analysis. Location TBD. Contact Sabrina (sabrina@dakotarural.org) for more info.
– Coffee, Saturday July 25. 10am at Pier 347. No agenda, just visiting.
– Coming to a Farmers Market near you in August. We will need people to help staff a table for a few hours on Saturday mornings to talk to people about who we are and what we do. Can you help? Contact Jenn (outreachmember@greateroaheactionleague.org).
– Public meeting for chicken ordinance. Thurs. Aug 27. 7pm. Chamber of Commerce public room. We are inviting the public to learn about the chicken ordinance. This will be good.
– Save the date: Sioux Falls Tour de Coop, Sat Sept 12. Amanda (admin member) and I went last year and it was a great opportunity to see how urban chickens are done. Plan to go. Take and share lots of pictures via social media to show that urban chickens are an asset to a community.
Food for Thought
We are about actions big and small to build local resiliency. We need you to take action with us.  Help us staff a table at a Farmers Market. Attend the chapter meeting. Share our posts and pictures on Facebook. Buy from a local farmer.
