Chicken Public Meeting

Aug 27. 7pm

Chamber of Commerce

Please attend the public meeting where we will be asking for input on the revised chicken ordinance and permit on Thursday, Aug 27 at 7pm at the Chamber of Commerce community room. We will review the ordinance and our recommendations as to what should be included in the permit.

This is open to the community and we hope to engage both supporters and those with concerns. Our goal is to create an ordinance that will permit responsible citizens to keep chickens while protecting the interests and rights of those who do not want chickens.

Share our Facebook event and invite your friends! https://www.facebook.com/events/2166606176813615/

Get a sneak preview of our ordinance at the website. The final draft will be posted by this weekend (8/21).

Local Food Survey

The Greater Oahe Action League is doing a foodshed study of our region to find out how we can better support local farms and ranches in central South Dakota. We need your help! Would you fill out this survey? It will only take a few minutes, and it will go a long way in helping us understand where people are getting their food from, and why. Thanks – and then please share this with your friends!

We are still looking for people to help us staff a table at the farmers markets on Saturdays.

If you have a couple of hours on a Saturday, sign up to help or contact Jenn at outreach@greateroaheactionleague.org.

Reaching out to your friends and neighbors is taking action which makes our community strong.

Get Involved!

We need help organizing our annual fall fundraiser. If you have a knack for getting things done, contact Anne.

We say this in the most humble way possible, but, yeah, our fundraiser is going to be  kinda awesome. We have some cool things in the queue and need a couple of people that can make things happen. We know you’re busy (boy, do we understand busy) but it’s only for a few months. Is this you? (If you’re thinking “maybe…” it probably is.)
